My passion is working with people and my gift is creating beautiful interiors. At a young age, around 12, I knew I wanted to do interior design. The plan was to complete the interior design degree program at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and spend my entire life in the field. Instead, in a time of need, I was recruited by my mother who owns a successful medical staffing company, to work as the Director of Operations. I did everything from recruiting, staffing, marketing, advertising, and performing other HR duties. I enjoyed helping people find people and helping people find jobs. It filled my “bucket” to work with so many unique individuals, counseling them on what to do better and guiding them in the right direction to a new job that would provide for their family. After 20 years in that role, I can say that it was fulfilling because I had an opportunity to do something I love, work with people. Of course, I hadn’t had a chance to use my other natural gifts so there was always a part of me that felt the calling.
Unexpected situations can catapult you into new adventures and that’s what happened when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. After a successful battle, it became clear that I need to use the rest of my time on this earth using all of the gifts I’ve been blessed with and so NEST Design and Décor was born.
Lessons I’ve learned from the staffing industry that have made me successful in interior design.
All of these lessons boil down to this, it takes time and money to create a perfect space but when you do, it’s worth the wait and the investment.
Many people ask what my style is and I say I’m a chameleon and I can easily adapt to my surroundings. I will say though that since I’m originally a southern girl, I do tend to have a southern flare and since I grew up near the beach, I enjoy a coastal or lakeside feel.
My Mantra, Live Life Beautifully!
Overall, I’ve realized that life is too short not to walk in your home and feel the love of your environment. To live in a space that wraps its arms around you and say’s welcome home.
I am the business administrator and interior design and color specialist at NEST Design and Decor. I'm a 2021 University of Iowa Graduate and have always had a passion for art and design. My love for art, design, and architecture came from the time that I lived in France and was able to see all of the varying art elements that exist across Europe. I started working at NEST in August of 2020 and have loved every second of working here and am excited to work on new projects and be a part of the growth at NEST Design and Decor.
